Summertime Fun at Salt Creek

Summertime fun at Salt Creek.

Winning!... Its been a good Spring into Summer.

The last couple months have been a blur...

with contests happening nearly every week.

Highlights include Lulu winning her first SA Prime event,

the last of the season to clinch 2nd place on the season!

A strong run into the Rip Curl Grom Search finals.

A forth place finish netted an invite to

the RCGS National Championships in the Fall.

 

The biggest win for Lulu came unexpectedly

but not unthinkable at the

Surfing America USA Championships.

Stoked on the 18U girls longboard Championship!!!

Now its Summertime... tons of free surfing!

Getting the Job done... and nearly winning!

 

Battling a run of sub par results, Lulu powered through the tough

conditions and nearly won the event. The judges missed a last 

second wave that would have given her a chance..

3rd Place is still good considering the field and conditions!

Girl Power!... 'nuf said!

Lulu has been working on the "mechanics" of good surfing.

but seems like a lifetime ago! 

Now, the top 3 pictured here are team mates on

the Dana Hills High School surf team.

They just swept the Newport Beach HS

girls longboard team in yesterday's comp.

Go, DHHS Girls. Go!

Lulu has been working on getting above the lip.

This air is far from BIG,

but it is the foundation of above the lip surfing.

She was flying down the line and could have

easily dodged this critical section,

however she stomped her first grabrail F/S air.

Surfline Gives Lulu some Love!

 

Surfline Full Report 

Lulu scored some great waves on Saturday coming up just short in the final to take second place and secure a second place rating for the Surfing America Prime 18U season. In her quarter final heat she dropped an 8.5 and a 7.9 which combo the field, she threw away a 6.5 and a 4 which would have won the heat. Next stop Salt Creek... hopefully local knowledge will be on her side and she will get a win.
